B.Sc. (Fashion and Apparel Design)
Introduction
The program prepares you for an engrossed study of the fashion industry covering the entire gamut of processes from textile making, designing, production, and marketing. This is designed to suit creative individuals to excel in the field of their natural talent. During the course of the study program you will be taken through elementary technical, design and management skill to the advanced levels to meet the current industry requirement.
The course combines the creative with the technological skill to provide an excellent foundation in the processes involved in the design and manufacture of garments and accessories. The students are given the opportunity to obtain an insight into the actual working of the industry by way of fashion shows organized and managed by the students themselves. The course has different levels of progression each reflecting the widening scope of fashion and the massive career opportunities open within clothing and accessory design and production.
Course Information
The 3 year graduate program aims to explore the fashion industry from the process of creating a garment from design to production, the aesthetic aspects of display and marketing. Contemporary design influences and consumer behaviour are dealt in detail. The course is structured in such a way as to enable each individual to pursue his or her own preferences in women’s wear, men’s wear, children’s wear or accessories. The course integrates quality curriculum delivery with inputs from expert visiting designers, industrial visits, internships in textile mills and fashion houses.
The design studio in the department provides the student with a hands – on exposure to all aspects of the fashion & garment industry. The subjects in the study program delve into all spheres of Fashion Design & Technology to provide an in-depth knowledge & up-to-date skills in rapidly developing areas of the industry.
